Story
On the 26th November 2022 our then 3 year old son Reuben was admitted to hospital with a severe complicated pneumonia around his right lung. It was later confirmed to be invasive Strep A. He was originally treated by the great staff at Bergholt ward in Ipswich but was later transferred to Adenbrookes hospital for life saving treatment. During his time at Addenbrooke's he spent time on the PICU ward ahead of his operation which involved full open surgery on his right lung and a small amount of the dead tissue removed along with a chest drain to remove the excess fluid. Whilst on intensive care The Sick Childrens Trust organised us a room on site at the hospital. This took away a lot of the added stress, my Wife stayed there throughout and both I and my daughter also had nights at the Trust until he was well enough to be back on the Paediatrics ward.
Reuben has made great strides forward since this illness but is still on a longer road to recovery with regular hospital checks. We always planned on raising money for the trust who helped us at the moment in need, when we received the invite for this event we thought it would be the perfect opportunity. We will also add a personal donation of £100 to this amount to get it started and hope that it helps the Trust help other families in need. The event is on Sunday 4th June in Cambridge and I plan to do the 15,000ft skydive. Please do not feel you need to donate but any donations that are given will be gratefully received by the charity.
Thank you
