Story
This Summer, I will be spending ten weeks in Nepal with Raleigh. This is part of the International Citizen Service (linked to NCS) and is a government supported project.
I will be away from 22nd June to 30th August completing work in a rural community in the Makwanpur district- doing either a water and sanitation project or livelihoods project which helps establish businesses with young people and women. A lot of Nepal is still effected by the earthquake that struck in 2015 and one of Raleigh's main focuses is helping rebuild communities through both physical infrastructure as well as business growth and development.
80% of me getting out there is funded by the government, including my flights, accommodation, food etc. I will be raising £1500 which will directly help the ICS scheme, helping them to continue to send young people from all backgrounds to poorer communities in the developing world. Raleigh International is a sustainable development charity. They work for and with young people, alongside rural communities, to create positive and lasting change.
You can keep track of how I get on here on my Justgiving page and amongst other things, you can expect plenty of bake sales! Any contribution from you will make a real difference to the lives of people in developing countries, so please dig deep- even if it is only £1!
