Story
I'm joining Cancer Research UK's Race for Life this year by taking part in Pretty Muddy 5K in Swindon on 5th September (yes you did read that right!). As anyone who knows me is aware, I don't do exercise. I do lounging on the sofa with my remote control and my glass of red wine. Last year I grudgingly tweaked this approach to fitness by doing Couch to 5k, and after letting things slide again over winter (any excuse) I know I need a goal to get myself back on track.
I am doing Pretty Muddy in memory of my lovely Dad, Ian Young, who I lost to liver cancer in 2007 and on whose behalf I would like to kick cancer's butt. I am dragging Libby (my fifteen year old daughter) along to haul me out of the mud.
All of us know someone who has been touched by cancer and together we can make a difference. Please join the fight by digging deep and sponsoring me - it's quick, easy and totally secure.
Events like this are vital in funding Cancer Research UK's life-saving work into preventing, diagnosing and treating cancer. By sponsoring me, we can unite and create an army that cancer can't ignore. By sponsoring me, we will beat cancer sooner.
