I'm taking on 75 Miles in September for Bliss, the UK's leading charity helping babies born premature or full-term, but sick. 1 in every 7 babies born in the UK will need specialist neonatal care, which means thousands of babies and their families seek information and support from Bliss every year.
Our daughter was born 6 weeks early, weighing in at a tiny 3lb. She was admitted to the neonatal unit straight from birth where she spent 15 days being lovingly cared for the amazing neonatal team.
Nothing could have prepared us for that overwhelming time and being separated from her overnight for the majority of her stay has had lasting effects.
Bliss launched their campaign ‘Families Kept Apart’ this year, which strives to provide more funding and facilities for units to prevent babies being separated from their parents during their care. Through Bliss’ campaigning, The Neonatal Care (Leave and Pay) Bill was passed making it law for parents to have 12 weeks of extra leave and pay if their babies are born premature or sick without the worry of returning to work.
By sponsoring me, your donation will help Bliss continue their work to ensure that every baby born premature or full-term who needs neonatal care will have the best chance of survival and quality of life.
Everyone who knows me, will know that I’m not a natural exerciser! With the help of my pocket rocket Mabel, we’re going to smash 75 miles throughout September and raise as much money as possible so other small but mighty babies like her can go on adventures with their mummies and daddies.
