Story
In September 2022, I am challenging myself to climb Mount Kilimanjaro, the world's tallest freestanding mountain - the peak sitting at 5895m above sea level. My climb is in aid of the Meningitis Research Foundation; a charity that aims to research and raise awareness of two serious diseases, Meningitis and Septicaemia.
Meningitis is an infection of the protective membranes that surround the brain and spinal cord. It can affect anyone but is particularly common in babies, children, and teenagers. Sadly, if not caught it can kill within 12 hours, therefore it is vital more people have knowledge of what this infection is and how to prevent the fatal consequences.
Shockingly, meningitis and neonatal sepsis are the second biggest infectious killer of children under the age of five, responsible for more deaths than malaria, measles, tetanus and AIDS combined, as well as affecting more than 2.8 million people every year!
Meningitis Research Foundations work is providing better access to vaccines, health systems that can diagnose and treat children, and support to survivors of meningitis.
All the money raised will go straight to the charity and with your donations, we can beat meningitis by as early as 2030! Its time to make meningitis a global health priority, so please donate to this amazing cause; any amount will help to stop this devastating disease.
Please make sure your aware of the warning symptoms as this could be vital in saving your life or the life of those around you.
