Story

Hiya Guys,

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I have decided to give myself the challenge of running the Robin Hood Half Marathon on 11th September. Still being fairly new to this running malarky, this really will be putting me to the test. Over the past year I really have caught the running bug and now I just can't seem to stop :-)

One of the charities for the run this year is Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research, a charity with the aim of beating blood cancers. So many people are affected by cancer in one form or another, whether they have been diagnosed with it or it is a loved one or friend that has it.

Over the past 18 months, someone close to me has been fighting against Lymphoma. While it came as a shock to us all, he has remained positive and strong throughout his treatment and fingers crossed we'll get some good news soon. It also seemed like fate when I signed up for the half marathon that this was one of the key charities to help raise money for.

Cancer of any form is cruel. It doesn't care who it targets which is why its so important to help as much as possible to carry on finding ways to beat it. This is where you can help.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

Please dig deep and donate what you can now.

Thank you

Charlotte

My training diary....

25/7/2011

Over the past couple of months I have been training hard in the gym and running with my friend claire (also taking part in the Half Marathon). I have also taken part in the Derby 10K back in April, the Wollaton 10k and the Holme Pierrepont Grand Prix.

Now its the 6 weeks holidays I have got plenty of time to up my training to ensure I'm fully prepared for the 13.1 miles ahead.

I'll make sure I keep you posted.

Thanks for reading guys,

Charlotte

7/8/2011 - 5 Weeks to go!!

Training continuing to go well. During the week I am keeping up with Swimming and the gym and a few short runs. On Friday (5/7/11) I took part in the jagermeister 10k which is based around the grounds of Nottingham University. I completed it in 1:02:55 which i was really pleased with considering it was very hilly. It was also good to do as it part of the half marathon will be around the uni grounds so I got to see what some of the course will be like.

Over the past few sundays when we have been doing our long distance training, we have increased our miles to 7.5/8 which were good but today we achieved 9 miles in 1hr 55 mins, without stopping, well apart from walking up and down the steps to the motorway bridge :-) I was really chuffed because it is the furthest and longest I have ever actually run. It was tough at times because Claire picked a particularly hilly route but it was an excellent run. I even have the blisters to prove it!!!

Well the training goes on, I will keep you posted.

A big thank you to those that have sponsored me so far.

Ta ta for now
