Story
Running the London marathon is something I've always wanted to do but having broken my ankle in three places and ruptured some ligaments back in 2010, sadly thought I'd have to write this goal off. Since then I've been prone to stress fractures and swelling in that foot even after relatively short running distances, but more recently have discovered that if I do most of my training on grass and trails, the bionic ankle (complete with a plate and 8 screws!) actually holds up pretty well. I've run 3 half marathons in 2023 which has given me confidence that it might hold up to the big 26.2 after all!
As always my ever eager running partner, Chester, will be accompanying me on my shorter training runs. He is 10 now, albeit rarely acts it, so I don't take him out for longer than 45 minutes. He absolutely loves it and helps me stay motivated come rain or shine!
The charity I'm running for, Make-A-Wish® UK, is an incredible charity that grants life-changing wishes for thousands of critically ill children across the UK. For families with critically ill children, every day counts. Your support has the power to make a wish come true for a critically ill child, allowing families to create lasting memories that they will treasure forever – no matter what the future holds.
Thank you so much for your support and I will keep this page updated with my training progress!
