Story
Cancer. It's horrific for those who have it and for those who know someone with it. I know a few people who have had, some of whom have died because of it. My Grandad battled for 18 months with Cancer of the heart and lungs.
He was diagnosed Christmas 2011 when he was told he had minutes, posibly hours, to live. He was told there was nothing that could be done. Well he wasn't having any of that and decided it was mind over matter! He got stronger instead of weaker and went from being bed bound to pacing the hospital hallways. The hospital staff couldn't believe it and were shocked that they were getting to discharge him. Now that he was stronger his body could handle medication and chemotherapy.
His odds went from minutes to live to months and he spent as much of this time visiting friends and family and jetting round the world on holiday. Unfortunatley the cancer was getting worse and was really taking its toll on my Grandad. He still maintained he was going nowehere and fought to the very end. He passed surrounded by family and close friends in June so this is in his memory.
My orange hair is a big part of me and I'm going to miss it a lot! But I want to do something that I personally will find hard to do and that will make a big impact on my life. I can teII you now from looking at baby photos I don't suit the bald look!
There will be a head shaving party on the 5th January (which would have been my Grandad's 67th birthday), details of which will follow over the next few months.
