Story
Martin House supports children and young people with life-limiting conditions, and their families, across West, North and East Yorkshire. Our vision is that every child and young person has access to palliative care when and where they need it.
On April 23rd I will be running the London Marathon in memory of my daughter Jocelyn and my son Caleb.
Martin House provided me and my family with incredible support for the care of our daughter Jocelyn who passed away in 2020 aged 13 months and our son Caleb who passed away in 2021 at 6 months.
Until we were put in contact with Martin House, we were lost in the overwhelming amount of care we had to provide and trying to understand our children’s life limiting conditions (whilst living through the covid pandemic) and everything that comes with it (medication, appointments, illnesses). The outstanding care and support provided to us by Martin House really was out of this world! It helped us to provide our children with the care they required at home and they helped us to spend our short time with them making precious keepsakes, bonding as much as possible and creating loving memories. Everything Martin House provided us, from the at home nurse care, stays when things got tough, medication guidance, counselling and just a shoulder to cry on was precious in our time of need.
Because of this, I am running the London Marathon to raise money for Martin House so they can continue to provide amazing care and support to every family who has a child with a life limiting illness, not only now but they can continue to do this in the future.
