Story
This time it's personal.
Receiving a cancer diagnosis in your 20s and 30s is the absolute pits, and tragically three good friends of mine - including my best friend Ellen - have been affected by this awful disease in the last year and a half.
Your 20s and 30s are often considered your prime; your most formative years that have the power to shape and influence the rest of your life. Having to negotiate chemotherapy, life-changing surgery, fertility issues and come face-to-face with your own mortality is something no young adult should face - but really that's only half the story. Couple that with the usual adult stuff: raising a young family, holding down a career, dating, getting married, and you've got an exponentially stressful mix.
I have seen first-hand the amazing work that Trekstock do. From emotional support and friendship to physical rehabilitation and practical advice, Trekstock's incredible programme is completely tailored to the needs of young adults and is totally unique in that sense. Both Ellen and I have been bowled over by the work that they do and the support and friendship they have shown - they're also the nicest bunch of people you could ever wish to meet.
So please dig deep and support Team Whistles, Team Trekstock, Twin Studio and all our guests as we embark on a 5-day trek to the highest peak in the Atlas Mountain range, Morocco, in support of Trekstock, and in honour of every badass cancer fighter we know. Because this might be hard, but facing cancer is harder.
Thank you. xxx
