Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
At the beginning of the year my husband, Matt, was diagnosed with a Chondrosarcoma of the brain (a brain tumour to you and me!). He had been in a lot of pain and very uncomfortable, and it was actually a relief for him to find that it was at least something and not just a mystery virus, and better still it was something that could, in one way or another, be fixed.
So before the news was even settling in with both of us, Matt was in hospital and having his first operation. We've since been told that this was a bit of a life saving op to relieve the pressure on the cranial nerves and also to establish what type of tumour it was. Although it was a tough recovery, Matt was determined to get back to full strength for whatever needed to be done next. As it was, he made a great recovery and was in good shape going in for operation number two.
So we're now waiting for operation number three later this year. Third time lucky it'll be the last one and The Prof will be able to remove the rest of the tumour.
Matt's continuing positivity and determination throughout this year has been a real inspiration. So that's why I've decided to put myself to the test with a 10k Summer Fun Run (who decided it was 'Fun'??). I'm absolutely atrocious at running but keep thinking that it's nothing in comparison to what Matt has been through this year.
So I'm running for Brain Tumour UK to help put a little something back into the research and good work that this charity does.
