Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I am going to complete the Great North Swim on September 5th (failure is not an option)! The swim takes place in lake Windermere and is one mile long.

Some people do it as a race but I just want to finish it! I have had quite a short training period because I had an opereation on my heart in July but the good news is nothing can stop me now and I am deterrmined to do it (hopefully in around 1hr).

So, why am I fundraising for Diabetes uk?

Did you know that every three minutes in the UK someone will be told that they have diabetes? Diabetes is serious and if left untreated can lead to heart disease, stroke, aputation and other life threatening complications. Diabetes costs the NHS £9 billion every year!!! 2.5 million people in the UK are diagnosed with Diabetes and it is estimated that 500,000 people in the UK have diabetes but don't know. The chances are that you will probably know someone with the disease.  

Diabetes UK is the charity for people with diabetes, their family, friends and carers. Their mission is to improve lives and to work towards a future without diabetes.

I have promised to help Diabetes UK by raising £200 by taking part in the great north swim. Please show your support by sponsoring me. Everyone who makes a donation, no matter what the size, is making a valuable contribution by helping improve our chances of preventing or curing diabetes.
