Story
As some of you may know, in November 2018, I lost my incredible Grandma. I'll be running this race in memory of her.
Grandma had a rare blood cancer- Acute myeloid leukaemia- and for her the prognosis wasn't long at all. As a part of Anthony Nolan and the Edinburgh Marrow society, I have been trying to raise awareness of rare blood disorders and cancers and want to raise as much money for this incredible charity as possible.
Every day, Anthony Nolan saves the lives of people with a blood cancer or blood disorder. We do this by matching incredible individuals willing to donate their stem cells to people who desperately need a lifesaving transplant. We also carry out cutting edge scientific research, fund specialist post-transplant nurses and support patients and their families through the transplant process and beyond. We won’t stop until we save the lives of everyone who needs a stem cell transplant. Every penny you donate brings us closer to that day.
They have already done so much life-saving work. Last year I ran my second 10km race and this year I'm stepping it up to run my first ever half marathon. It will be a huge challenge but one I'm excited to face. The pain of that day will be nothing in comparison to those living and suffering with blood cancer every day. Please donate whatever you can.
