We fund research and raise awareness to create a world free from meningitis

Story

Meningitis. Something you get vaccinated against at school and probably never think about again. But not if your brother contracts the deadly B strain at 20-years old and tragically loses his life within a few hours.

Meningitis affects more than 2.5 million people globally each year. It can happen to anyone, anywhere at any time. It is often difficult to diagnose as it can present like a hangover or flu (sever headache, high fever, stiff neck) and can kill within hours. In 2019, Graham so sadly became the 1 in 10 that lose their life to meningitis.

Please help me spread the word about the vital work MRF do to help fundraise research projects and support families, like Ryan’s, devastated by this horrendous brain infection.

My running in 2023 has been blighted by injuries and I’ve never run a road marathon before. At fairly short notice I’ve decided to run 26.2 miles around London in two-weeks time! Wtf am I doing?!

I’m doing it in Graham’s memory because I believe siblings, like Ryan, should get to grow up with their brother.

Your donations and words of support will firmly be in my mind when I inevitably hit the wall at around mile 17!

Meningitis is deadly; killing and seriously disabling in hours. Small children and young adults are high risk, but all ages can be affected. Globally 1,000 people die daily. We fundraise to invest in research, campaign for vaccines, provide symptom information and support those already affected.
