Sponsor me to run the Royal Parks Half Marathon in aid of rape victims in DR Congo!
The Tatiana Giraud Foundation works in partnership with Gesom Hospital in Goma in the DR Congo in order to provide much needed assistance to rape victims in the region. Gesom has a hospital with 50 beds and they also have a much needed mobile clinic project that travels out to remote villages in the region to provide training to doctors in small healthcare clinics and to treat victims of rape who are unable to reach them in Goma.
The cost of running these mobile clinics is £3,250.00. This includes covering costs for travel for one Doctor and one Anaesthetist, living costs for a period of 6 days and treatment of 10 rape patients at a cost of £195.00 per patient.
The mobile clinics are a vital part of the work that Gesom carry out to help rape victims. Many of the patients are raped in remote areas that are cut off from or are very far from from the main hospitals, so the mobile clinic is vital to them receiving the medical aid that they desperately need, especially if they have developed traumatic fistula as a result of being raped.
I appreciate all your support in sponsoring me to run the Royal Parks Half Marathon on 10th October in order to help TG Foundation's efforts to fund Gesom Hospital and help end sexual violence in DR Congo.
Thanks for giving! Charlotte
