Story
NEWS UPDATE 13 OCTOBER thank you so much, you generous and gorgeous people who have helped this rookie runner almost double my fundraising target for Brainstrust. Tours 20k and London Royal Parks Half Marathon (21.5k) both amazingly smashed in a fraction under 2 hours. Some of you know that the inspiration behind my choice of charity was a young lady called Rachel, a mum of 2 with brain cancer. Sadly Rachel died today, at just the time my plane touched down from London and my second race. My heartfelt thoughts are with her family especially her wonderful mum Susie who will now no doubt be bringing up her grandchildren with the same selfless love as she nursed her daughter. I wore 2 pink ribbons in my hair for both races, one named for Rachel and the second for Anne, another lady who has sadly lost her battle. Thanks to your generosity Brainstrust will hopefully be there for another family when they have to face this dreadful diagnosis and I feel most privileged to have been able to do something worthwhile. God bless you all x
Anyone who knows me will realise that the words 'half marathon' wouldn't normally appear in my vocabulary. To surprise myself for my 40th I decided to get grown up and learn to run. And loved it. And realised I could do more beyond losing the four-baby-jelly-belly, like the Tours half marathon in France on Sep 21 and the Royal Parks half marathon in London on Oct 12. I decided to run for Brainstrust after coming across a British family in France battling brain cancer and two young children who face losing their mum. With your support I can make sure that another family is equipped to deal with that diagnosis, that everyone reading this dreads, happens. So please, dig deep, my little legs are pounding the tarmac five times a week at ungodly hours of the day, and I would so love to be able to make a contribution to what Brainstrust can do. Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Thank you for your generosity x
