As a bit of a challenge this summer I have entered the 2011 Speedo series Hampton Court to kingston Bridge open water swim, on Sunday 17th July. Two and quarter miles of murky Thames!

So to make sure I get in the water, and focus my mind as I bob down the Thames, I want to raise some money for Excellent Development. This is an award winning, small charity that supports farmers in dryland areas (in Africa and Asia) to build sand dams. Sand dams (the world's lowest cost method of capturing rainwater in dry rural areas), transform people's lives by providing a year round source of clean water, close to their homes.

Raising £500 means ten families have access to clean water for life.
