Story
Brighton 2021 is ON!!!
The original plan was simple, really! Run the Brighton Marathon! My first marathon! But then COVID hit and things didn't go exactly to plan. Brighton was cancelled till April 2021 and then again, till September 2021.
So I ran my first marathon at the Kent Spring Marathon in October 2020 - wow what an experience! Tears were shed as I crossed the line!
And who better to fundraise for, than the Pilgrims Hospice. I would really appreciate a couple of minutes of your time to read why I am fundraising for Pilgrims.
As some of you know, I am one of the Pilgrims Hospice community nurses and I see first hand what palliative care can do to help people. As a charity, Pilgrims needs to raise £11 million a year to run the hospice services across East Kent. Its costs £10,000 per day to run each hospices full range of services. It costs £6,800 per day to run each hospices inpatient unit.
I would be so grateful for continued sponsorship, so I am selling memory ribbons. These ribbons will have the name of a loved one written on it and these will be sewn to my running vest.
Here are some other examples of how your sponsorship could help:
£1000 could pay for a patient be cared for in their own home.
£500 could pay for a hospice bed for a day.
£100 could pay for a therapy session for a child dealing with the loss of a loved one.
£50 could pay for essential nursing supplies.
£35 could pay for a complimentary therapy session for a patient and carer.
£20 could pay for a physiotherapy session for a patient.
£20 could pay for an hour of nursing care.
£10 could pay for a patients meals for a day.
If you are able to donate anything towards my sponsorship target, then I would be immensely grateful. You will be helping someone else in their time of greatest need.
If you are donating in memory of a loved one, then please tell me. Knowing that I am running the marathon for someone will really spur me on. It makes it so much more personal for me.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving - they'll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they'll send your money directly to the charity. So it's the most efficient way to donate - saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
Thank you for reading.
