Story
So, 6 of us (Tammy, Carlie, Rebecca and Charlotte,Linsey & Michael(Tammy’s dad) are doing a parachute jump to raise money for Brain Tumour Research. Whilst we are all strong women - we all hate heights, and we are all terrified of doing it.
But if that wasn't incentive enough here's the back story....
This nonsense all started when Tammy came up with the daft idea that we should do a jump to acknowledge her cancer journey. It began 15 years ago when at 28 weeks pregnant she was diagnosed with stage 3 triple negative breast cancer. Tammy went through chemotherapy & radiotherapy, and eventually had a risk reducing double mastectomy. A few years ago some dodgy cells appeared on a smear test resulting in a full hysterectomy. Tammy works as an Emotional Literacy Support Assistant (ELSA) as well as running a household of 5 (yes, 5) kids, and is an inspiration to us all.
When Tammy thought of the daft jumping idea, we decided that the most relevant and important charity to us would be to support our friend Carlie and Brain Tumour Research.
In case you don't know 3 years ago Carlie (mum of 2) was diagnosed with an aggressive form of breast cancer. She went through 21 rounds of chemotherapy, 3 weeks of radiotherapy, and a mastectomy…and she felt that she'd beaten it. But after a few months of persistent headaches at the start of 2021, various tests and investigations revealed a large tumour in her brain and secondary breast cancer. Fast forward 3 months and she had brain surgery to remove it and was recovering well. However, a week before Christmas, the follow-up scans from the surgery showed that cancer had returned, with several more tumours in her brain. Another round of radiotherapy is now under her belt, and Carlie – another huge inspiration to us all - is back on track trying to maintain a 'normal' life.
Carlie (and Jas) are working hard to raise as much money as they can for Brain Tumour Research (an underfunded cancer charity) and all of us would really really appreciate you to give what you can for this important cause, thanks!
We are doing a skydive to join in with Carlie's 'Year to Remember' Best Fundraising Team.
It is going to be exciting, terrifying and it's safe to say we're bricking it.
