Story
On 26th April 2020 **now 3rd October 2021** I will be running the London Marathon in memory of my mum, Angela. She fought an 8 year battle with ovarian cancer but sadly passed away aged 33. She truly was an incredible woman, mum, wife, daughter, sister, auntie and friend and so loved and adored. I hope one day no one will have to suffer through ovarian cancer, or lose their loved one to the cruel disease. Please donate to this worthy cause whatever you can, so that valuable life-saving research, and raising awareness can continue. This will be a huge challenge for me, having struggled with half the distance. But I am determined to complete the course, knowing that I’m doing it for mum.
My first training challenge is the Worcester Half Marathon (September 15th 2020), followed shortly by the Royal Parks Half Marathon (October 13th 2020). I’ll be posting regular updates on this page so you can join me on my journey to marathon day!
Ovarian cancer is the UKs most deadly gynaecological disease claiming a woman's life every two hours. In fact, diseases like breast cancer had better survival rates five decades ago than ovarian cancer does in 2019. We’re determined to do something about this. To take action and make ovarian cancer a survivable disease. Raising awareness of its symptoms amongst the public and healthcare professionals is how we make the quickest impact. Scientific research is how we make the biggest impact. We’re committed to funding research to accelerate progress in three main areas: prevention, diagnosis and treatment. And while our scientists are busy in the lab, we’re on the ground campaigning for change and raising awareness of the disease, so that every woman and healthcare professional knows the signs to look out for. Together, these priorities will help women survive ovarian cancer. Join us on our mission today. Help us accelerate the rate of progress.
