Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I've done it. I completed the marathon in 5:48:37! It was amazing and fun but very hard work both on the day and all the months of preparation. I have come such a long way from the non runner that watched the race on the telly last year and thought I want to do that.
My Grandma suffered from Alzheimers and was cared for initially by my Grandad until he passed away. Grandma then came to live with my Mum, Dad and me. During this time Dementia Concern sent one of their carers, Jean to sit with my Grandma to allow my Mum and me a break to go out for a couple of hours. This time was very special giving my Mum especially some much needed time out. Since my Grandma died my Mum has worked for the charity in their shop one day a week and with Dad helping at book sales (to raise funds) and assisting at nights out organised by the charity. These nights out allow both the sufferer and carer to enjoy a night with food, dancing and entertainment, which is enjoyed by all. As an independent charity it's work is very important and I want to do my bit to repay the help that they gave my family during a very difficult time.
