I am running for Alzheimer's for my Nan. She has suffered from this disease for 18 years and thanks to the help from Alzheimer's, she was put on a trial drug which has slowed down her condition an incredible amount. Without that trial drug, I would of lost my Nan many many years ago. She's now starting to get worse, 18 years down the line. I am running and raising money to help other family's and people with this condition, to help keep our family members and the people we love with us for longer. Also if Alzheimer's get enough funding, we can eventually prevent this horrible disease.

I also want to recognise the help and support that the Alzheimer's  carers have provided for my Nan. At the moment she has Jenna from the Alzheimer's come round 4 times a week to sit with Nan, take her out, go shopping, go for a drink - just all round be there as a friend and a carer! She really is brilliant and Nan has really taken to her. As well as looking after Nan, the Alzheimers carers help my 82 year old Grandad, with health issues of his own, take a break from 24/7 looking after his wife of 60 years. That little break that Grandad gets, helps put more of a smile on his face. That's incredibly important to me and my family.

The way I see it; My grandparents looked after me all of my childhood - It's now my turn to look after them! I am willing to go to the extremes to make sure they are looked after and cared for. I am going out of my comfort zone to raise money for Alzheimer's and run a half marathon October 19th. I'm petrified. However, I also have the sights to run the full London marathon by June 2016.

Now, if you are not aware, the Alzheimers funding has recently been cut. Therefore my family are having to pay for these services - which doesn't come cheap! However, cutting these services from my Nan and Grandad is not an option. 

I'm hoping to raise money not only for research, but to raise awareness and raise money to help out with so much more. I want to raise money to help funding for training new and more carers. Moreover, more carers to help support and care for families going through this and help create new projects and new adventures.
