Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
In June 2015 I discovered I had an unusually severe case of SVT (SupraVentricular Tachycardia). It's a disorder causing palpitations due to irregularities in the heart's natural circuitry.
Thankfully it is rarely dangerous, however, it did have a huge impact on my life, putting my career on hold and leaving me exhausted from palpitations lasting hours at a time.
I am incredibly fortunate to have received treatment at St Bartholomew's Hospital, who gave me outstanding care. In December 2015 I underwent a Catheter Ablation procedure, which involves placing wires into the heart and burning away the faulty tissue. Not a pleasant experience, I can assure you! Thanks to this technology I am now back at work and on the road to a full recovery.
Running this race for the British Heart Foundation is important to me as without funding for research my treatment may not have been available. It has given stability back to my life and I know not everyone is so fortunate. Anyone who knows me, knows that distance running and I do not get on! Simply finishing the race will be a huge achievement in restoring my fitness, so I figured why not make it a fundraising goal too.
Please give what you can. Your money will go towards a wonderful cause, and helping those touched by heart disease in the future. I promise to give it my all on the big day. I certainly won't be breaking any speed records but I'm sure my snazzy running outfit will help.
