Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
On the 27th September 2015 I will be running the Berlin Marathon for Cancer Research. It is a cause very close to my heart. As the world's largest independent cancer research charity it has helped to save millions of lives through discovering new ways to prevent, diagnose and treat cancer.
I will be running in memory of both my CEO, Steve Plasto and our uplink engineer Sean Coen. Steve sadly passed away in January 2015, aged 44, just two and a half months after being diagnosed with metastatic melanoma. Sean passed away in April 2015 after a year long battle with Lung Cancer. Steve and Sean were both much loved and highly thought of within my company and are sorely missed. Steve and I always talked about running and he was due to run the New York Marathon in 2014. I thought I would take on the feat of a marathon for him and raise awareness of this terrible disease at the same time. This will be my first marathon and having only started running in February 2014 it will be a massive achievement for me.
In addition, as most of you may know, my father was diagnosed with lung cancer in 2008, if it was not for the continued research and dedication to fighting this awful disease my father would not be with us today. No one can understand how grateful my family and I are to the doctors and surgeons that helped my amazing father overcome cancer.
Finally, to make my challenge a little harder I also plan to run the London Marathon in 2016 (if I get a ballot or charity place!!) Thank you very much for taking the time to read this and for your kind donations to such a great cause, they will help me through my training and also through my marathons, mile by mile!
