Charlie is running in the fight against malaria

London Marathon 2019 · 28 April 2019 ·
Thanks for visiting my page!
I nearly lost my life to malaria. A child dies every 2 minutes. I met a family whose 9 year old had just died, her death could have been prevented if she’d have been treated - she wanted to be a doctor.
I am lucky to be able take part in this year’s London Marathon as it was only 2 and a half years ago that I was on life support because of this killer disease. My kidneys failed almost immediately, my lungs collapsed and I had respiratory failure, my mum was told I had 24 hours to live.
I still have a kidney problem due to the damage that was caused and I have suffered from PTSD. I have flashbacks of being in the coma. I remember fighting so hard for my life.
I was fortunate enough though to recover and have the support I’ve had. Children are suffering every day. I met a child, Grace, who survived malaria but now lives with cerebral palsy which was caused by malaria. I met a mother only last week who 32 years on from losing her son broke down in pain from the heartbreak she suffered as a mother. I also met another mother last year, whose son was just like me, young, fit and healthy, he didn’t pull through.
Malaria No More do incredible work saving lives and are working to help end malaria within a generation, our generation.
We know how to end it! Fighting malaria is about education, poverty, equality - a healthy child has opportunity.
Any small amount you can help with I would be so grateful. It costs £1 to treat! #malariamustdie
