I've wanted to run a marathon for about 5 years (signed up and secretly hoped I wouldn't get a place), but never had the real incentive (or balls!) to do it - I mean, 26.2 miles isn't exactly a walk in the park! - but when I visited my granddad in Jersey Hospice last year, after he was diagnosed with terminal cancer, I knew this was the year I would tackle the challenge - in memory of him. I told him I would do it before he passed away...so there's no backing out now!

Jersey Hospice looked after him in the most incredible way - he spent his last months getting the best treatment and care (and amazing food!), close to grandma and enjoying his island.
