Story
Charlie and I have decided to take on the challenge created by South Central Ambulance Service, called "Outrun an Ambulance". We have chosen to complete the average mileage (90 miles) driven by a Reading ambulance on a typical shift. Charlie will ride his bike and I will run! We will aim to complete this in as little time as we can!
On September 2018, as many of our friends and family know, 8 week old Charlie suddenly stopped breathing at home, with blood coming from his nose. I was able to resuscitate him, however Charlie needed time critical care. Within 6 minutes, an ambulance and an air ambulance had reached us and took over Charlie's care. He was taken to resus at RBH and stabilised on a ventilator. He was then transferred to ICU at John Radcliffe, where he made a full recovery.
I strongly believe Charlie wouldn't be here without the fast response time and excellent that he received, and it is incredibly worrying how much services have been effected by covid and budget cuts. I see it as so important to support this invaluable service.
Thank you so much SCAS!
