Story
So Charlie's at it again, asking you all to get your wallets out and donate some money to the incredible Alder Hey Children's Hospital. They are running a 'Step into Summer: 100km in June Challenge' but he's decided that's not big enough, so we will be piggy backing onto their London - Amsterdam bike ride and he will be cycling it virtually and aiming to complete 355 miles in June, with a bit of walking thrown in for good measure!
As most of you all will know, our wonderful Emmie aka Auntie Em, lost her battle with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia in 2018. For 8 years, she fought hard and it was down to the exceptional team at Alder Hey that we got those extra 8 years. Alder Hey was our home away from home and Charlie pretty much grew up there to the point we actually celebrated his first Christmas in the Oncology ward! Every single person who worked there - the cleaners, the cooks, the porters, the therapists, the nurses and the doctors are a huge part as to why this place will always be so dear to the Coventry fam. So any money you can donate will be greatly appreciated and will go towards changing the lives of so many young people!
Alder Hey Children’s Charity raises vital funds to help make Alder Hey Children’s Hospital a truly world-class, patient-friendly hospital for the 330,000 patients and families we care for every year.
Since 2013, over £65m has been raised for a range of life-saving medical equipment and facilities that are making a real difference every day.
That money also ensures that every child experiences Alder Hey magic – those little added extras that make the hospital experience the best it can be during a young person’s stay.
