Story

I'm Adam. Charlie is the youngest of my 5 kids. He is 8 years old.

A while ago, he was watching Blue Planet and became worried at the extent of the plastic and other rubbish which threaten the environment.

He decided he wanted to raise awareness of how easy rubbish can choke and strangle wildlife, the 'rubbish bergs' and his particular concern, the damage to turtles. He watched in anger as graceful turtles were caught in plastic bags, were dragging plastic behind them and had plastic straws stuck in them.

Charlie has decided he’d like to walk from Carnoustie to St Andrews. As the crow flies, it’s about 10 miles. For a car, about 23, but to walk, as there are no complete footpaths by the road, he’ll need to detour onto the  Fife Coastal Path, once he has crossed the Tay  Bridge. This increases the distance to around 32 miles. He has chosen the date for the walk, 25th August, in memory of his mum, Eileen. This date would have been her 53rd birthday. She died when Charlie was two
