Story
On Sunday 18th September 2022, following a late miscarriage, my sister and her partner were admitted to Guy’s Hospital where she gave birth to two tiny boys; Gabriel and Jude. Whilst I’ll never meet my nephews, they will forever be an important and loved part of our family.
As so many of my friends around me are on their journeys toward parenthood, I’ve learnt that infertility and miscarriage, at whatever stage, is something that touches more people than we realise. The ripple effects of grief encountered with losing a child during pregnancy are not solely for Mum and Dad, but ripple out to Uncles, Aunts, Grandmas, Grandads, family and friends.
On Saturday 8th July 2023 I’ll be swimming 3000 meters across lake Llyn Padarn against the backdrop of the Snowdon Mountain range to raise money for the Twins Trust, a charity chosen by Joanne and Simon.
Aside from the great work that this charity does for families whose children arrive as planned, they also have bereavement services for those who experience the loss of their twins at any stage of pregnancy or after.
All the money that I raise will be directed to the Twins Trust Bereavement Support Group as their befriending service which offers peer-to-peer support from people with lived experience of losing twins, continues to be a lifeline for my sister.
I’m swimming this lake for Gabriel, Jude, my sister, her partner, and for anyone effected by infertility, miscarriage or the loss of child.
I know times are tight at the moment, but please give what you can.
Sleep tight my lovely boys x
