Story
I recently lost a close friend to suicide, and one of the things that I have found deeply shocking is how many people I know have experienced a similar situation.
1 in 15 people in the UK attempt suicide in their lifetime. While any number would be too high, this is clearly an extreme situation.
The UK has huge problem when it comes to discussing mental health, and breaking down the stigma around discussing suicide is one of the biggest ways we can help to prevent it.
Since I got the news last year, I have been trying to find something I can do to help. It pains me that there is nothing I can do to change what happened, but I can try and do something that will impact others in the future.
That is why I will be doing the Royal Windsor Triathlon on June 12th 2022 for Grassroots Suicide Prevention.
Grassroots work locally and nationally to provide training, signposting and innovation that helps save lives through conversations that can really make a difference.
The event is an Olympic triathlon, which means
- a 1.5km swim
- a 40km cycle
- finished up with a 10km run
Those of you that know me will know that cardio is not exactly my specialty, so this will certainly be a challenge. I want to raise as much as possible for this cause so please donate and share.
