Update: I did it!
My time was 4:10:35. I am happy that it is done, and it was certainly a challenge!
It involved taking to the hills of Marlborough early on Sunday morning, starting the clock, and setting off. A lonely 3 hours followed, with the rest of the school at the morning service, then, having run about 18 miles solo, the rest of C.1. came to run the last 9 miles with me.
Thanks to everyone who marshalled the course, and everyone who has donated so far!
Donations can still be made, simply by clicking on the donate button alongside this text.
On the 18th April I am running a marathon at school. I will be raising money for the Jonathon Conville Memorial Trust : a charity which encourages ''safe and enjoyable practice in mountaineering, by operating subsidised training''. Jonathon Conville was a student at Marlborough, who died mountaineering. You can read more about the charity by following the link on this page.
Like so many others, I was greatly influenced by the life of Rupert Rosedale, the Outward Bound Instructor at Marlborough College. He not only instructed me how to rockclimb and kayak, but inspired me to do big challenges. It was thanks to Rupert's inspiration and guidance last year that Sam Heaney and I recently completed the Devizes to Westminster Canoe race, a tough 126 mile test of endurance and strength, which took place over Easter weekend. Tragically, Rupert lost his life on Ben Nevis on 31 December 2009 in an avalanche. It meant a lot that the first phone call we got as a group after completing the canoe race was from Rupert's brother, asking how we had all got on. When told, he said rupert would have been proud.
I am supporting this charity as it helps young people to achieve skills in one of the activities Mr Rosedale loved doing. It is a charity that his family have suggested donations go towards in connection to the life of Mr Rosedale. I am doing this run for him.
Any donations are really appreciated, so please take the time to donate on this page, thank you!
