Story

I’ve been wanting to sail around our wonderful coastline for a long time now. My Dad bought this boat (EXTASIE) when I was 16 and it was his pride and joy. He spent almost every weekend in the summer on board when he wasn’t working as a medical practitioner and he always wanted to do some long trips. Unfortunately he had a stroke and died, climbing the mast in 1982, when I was a dental student. Since then I have sailed her with my Mum, Brother and many friends enjoying the freedom of the seas. Sometimes I sail solo with Jazz, my spaniel who surprisingly enjoys it too!
This trip is with Jazz and my good friend Nick, who I have known for many years. I am Godfather to his eldest son and have known Jane his wife since we served together in Middle Wallop and Belize.
As well as taking a well earned sabbatical from work to enjoy one of the sailing trips of a lifetime, I hope to raise some funds for the Alzheimer’s Society, since my Mum now suffers from this. So this trip is in memory of Dad and also to help people such as Mum.
