Story
Our Group of companies are honoured to support Candlelighters Children’s Charity that support Children and their families who are affected with Children’s Cancer in the Yorkshire Region.
Our Group has Supported Candlelighters for over 5 years now to help raise funds to support the fantastic work that they do.
Platinum Asset Protect and UK Care donate 2.5% of their annual revenue to Candlelighters but we always want to do more to get further funds and raise more awareness around the charity.
We have events lined up over the coming weeks which include a Charity Bike Ride, Bake Sale and Sponsored Three Peaks Challenge.
Childhood Cancer can have a devastating impact on the children affected and their whole family and Candlelighters are dedicated to supporting the Children and their families through the illness and afterwards.
Candlelighters provide On-Ward Play Leaders on the Wards of Leeds General Infirmary to entertain and distract children whilst helping them understand more about their treatment, Elaine the Dinner Lady who gets the Children what they want to eat when they want it as due to treatment their eating habits and taste buds may have altered significantly. This is just 2 of various roles within Leeds General Infirmary that are funded by Candlelighters.
Alongside funding roles, Candlelighters also invest heavily in equipment, such as play equipment and IT equipment to keep families connected to the outside world. They also fund Media Workshops so that the Children can be creative even if they cannot get into school.
Recently Candlelighters made a landmark investment and opened their doors to the Candlelighters Pavilion which is a family space accessible through one of the Wards which is used for the Children and their families to get away from the clinical setting of the hospital and provide comfort whilst still being close to any required medical needs.
Candlelighters also provide The Square, which is a building in Leeds City Centre just 1 minute away from the hospital that is full of friendly faces. At The Square, anyone involved with the impact of Children’s Cancer people can talk and share stories with other people who understand what they are going through, get some quiet time to themselves and even book a massage or talking therapist.
Alongside all of this, Candlighters also fund research specifically into children's cancer and how to treat it. Survival rates are increasing every year but more can be done to try and beat cancer for good.
Please help us support this wonderful charity by donating as much as you can to support the people that really make the difference.
