Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I have been fortunate enough to be invited to 2 of the Sports Quiz evenings at Lords Cricket Ground and each time I go, I am completely humbled by the personal stories that are shared by the families living with Muscular Dystrophy. So when the opportunity came up to run the marathon for the charity, I jumped at the chance. I figured that any pain I will experience through the training and race will pale into insignificance!
Unfortunately the lasting effects of rugby have meant I haven't been able to run consistently since I retired in 2016 and every time I feel I'm getting somewhere, I end up back to square one with a calf or back injury. This marathon is going to take me completely out of my comfort zone and it is going to take a huge effort to even get to the start line on Sunday 23rd April. I had to pull out of the one in October due to injury, so it's going to take some effort to get there this time. However, not only does this give me a great opportunity to focus on getting my body back to normal again, but most importantly, I'll be able to raise some much needed funds for an amazing charity.
Wish me luck!
Charlie
