Story
As a lot of you may know, our Gorgeous Emelia Rose was born with a Congenital Heart defect. She underwent Open Heart Surgery in Leeds when she was just 4 months old.
A CHD basically means that for some reason (mostly still unknown) the baby’s heart does not form as it should in the womb.
1 in 100 babies are born with a CHD. We didn’t find out about Emelia’s condition until she was 12 weeks old, when our lives were turned upside down.
Emelia is so strong and brave and she has taught us what life really is about.
Emelia will be under her cardiology team for life, having routine appointments to monitor her Heart as she grows.
The CHSF are an amazing charity that runs alongside the medical teams at Leeds. They support them and provide so much. Everything from a fish tank on the children’s ward for giving the children something to take their mind off being in hospital, toys for the playroom, and they also raise vital funds for expensive medical equipment that the doctors, nurses and surgeons need to save these little babies, older babies, and children’s lives.
They even do things like make sure that every child who has had Heart Surgery, is awarded with a teddy bear, a medal and a certificate. This may seem small, but it’s a massive gesture and it’s the small things like this that can make all the difference when you’re going through something so challenging.
We have raised for this charity before, and we will do so again. It really is a charity that is worth while donating to as they’re literally SAVING BABIES LIVES in LEEDS every single day.
It is coming up to Emelia’s Second “Heartiversary” when we will be celebrating with her, so this sponsored walk has come at a great time and given us a fab opportunity to raise some money for this Amazing charity.
We’d appreciate it so much if you’d support Emelia on her sponsored walk. She’s been through more than a lot of people ever do in their lifetimes.
So please, either dig deep and donate generously, or throw in a pound, either way, you’re helping to support these teams of people who are saving lives.
Thanks all, lots of love xxx
