Hi! My name is Charlie and in May of this year, I will be cycling 100 miles in support of the amazing people at King's College Hospital. A cause very close to my heart.
Many of you will be aware of the unfortunate events that unfolded in the summer of 2019. Whilst at the gym, I suffered a rare and life threatening form of Brain Haemorrhage. This was a completely random event, which could have happened any time, any place. Sub-Arachnoid Haemorrhages have an incidence of around 2 in 10,000 under 25s. The following months have been a horrible physical and mental battle for not only myself, but my friends and family also. A battle that I am proud to say I have overcome. I was given the all clear in December 2019.
I am dedicating this cycle to the amazing and wonderful NHS staff at King's Hospital who were there for me when I needed them most. The job that these people did for me during my 2 week stay in King's really was nothing short of phenomenal. Not a day goes past that I am not thankful for the NHS, which here in the UK we really do take for granted. Without the support and care I was so fortunate to have whilst in King's, I most likely would not be here today.
King's College hospital relies on charity donations to fund new research, state-of-the art equipment and the best patient care. I am aiming to raise as much money as possible for this amazing cause. Your donations, however small or large will be hugely appreciated, not just by myself, but also by other patients who rely on life-saving care on a day to day basis.
If you have any questions, then do not hesitate to contact me!
Thank you in advance,
Gooner Charles
