All of this is being done to help raise money for James's Place

James's Place has been set up by James’s parents to help raise awareness of anxiety, depression and suicide amongst young people and to tackle the terrible and shocking statistic that suicide is the leading cause of death amongst young men in the UK. This is a charity which I feel strongly about supporting a would be extremely humbled to be able raise money of any amount towards a worthwhile cause.

Please take a moment to read more about the charity at www.jamesplace.org.uk

  • Suicide is the greatest cause of death amongst young men (15-35) in the UK.
  • Suicide is three times more common in males than females.
  • More people seek specialist help for mental health each year than they do for cancer.
  • In all countries suicide is the now one of the three leading causes of dead among people aged 15 - 44 years

James’ Place is an initiative formed by Clare Milford Haven and Nick Wentworth-Stanley, as part of the James Wentworth-Stanley Memorial Fund which they founded in 2008, after they tragically lost their twenty-one-year-old son, James, to suicide, ten days following a minor operation. James went looking for someone to talk to about his anxiety and suicidal thoughts but sadly didn’t find the urgent help he so desperately needed within a system that is already stretched to breaking point.  As a result, Clare and Nick have set up James' Place to address this very issue - to support and listen to men who would like to talk and share how they are feeling, with people who understand and care, during their time of need.

Our mission is to stop men dying by suicide and we believe death by suicide is preventable. Yet, in the UK suicide is still the single leading cause of death of men under 50. At James’ Place, we provide proven, professional therapy for men in suicidal crisis to help them find hope for the future.
