Story
I’m the Communications and Engagement Manager for the Trust and I’ve worked closely with the teams behind the hospital’s Dementia Care Appeal and have seen first-hand how passionate they all are about this important appeal.
Last year the Trust launched the Dementia Care Appeal with a target of raising £40,000 to purchase specialist equipment and activities to improve the experience of patients living with Dementia, and in the past year the hospital has seen an overwhelming response from supporters, and the generosity received has been truly incredible, and we are all so grateful – thank you.
This generosity is making such a huge difference to the experience of patients and their families, but we can still do so much more.
The Trust is now aiming to now raise a further £40,000 – this time with a focus on providing specialist therapies, including exercise and creative activities across the hospital and I am so proud to be helping
them in achieving this.
Originally I set you to run the King’s Lynn GEAR on 30 April and after four weeks of training sadly injured my knee and had to make the very difficult decision to withdraw from the run. Committed to the challenge however, I will be deferring my run, and have now signed up to the Sandringham 10K Run on Sunday 24 September.
All donations already received will be donated to QEH’s Dementia Care Appeal, and I will continue to fundraise for this amazing cause.
Already I have raised over £1,000 and I would like thank everyone for their amazing generosity and their overwhelming support.
In a few weeks time I will look forward to training again so please continue to follow my story and progress and help me raise even more money for this worthwhile cause, and together help improve the lives of those living with Dementia.
I am by definition the opposite of an athlete but the challenge for running 10k does not compare to the challenges patients and their families have to experience in living with dementia.
