Please support me in fundraising for Thrombosis UK. This charity is close to my heart and I want to support this charity in memory of my dad.
My story....
Sadly my dad suddenly passed away on Christmas Eve 2018 at the age of 58 years young. He was working offshore when he become suddenly very unwell. The medical teams on the oilrig tried all they could but sadly they could not save my dad.
It was confirmed a few days later he died of a bilateral pulmonary embolism. A cause of a DVT -which if left untreated causes fatalities. Being in a medical profession I knew DVTs can be life threatening. I did not appreciate how much work goes into this charity to make people aware of the signs and symptoms until now. I believe if my dad knew of these symptoms and he understood how life threatening it can be he of course would have seeked medical care..
When my dad passed away it broke my heart and the grief since losing him is so tough. I have suffered with my mental health due to this and other factors to, but through my grief I found a love for fitness and running. I become healthier and fitter wanting to help my mind feel more healthy too. Unfortunately I have now lost my enthusiasm for fitness due to a back injury and suffering from covid-19 in April 2020.
Recently I found the Thrombosis UK charity and the fitness challenge they encourage. I wanted to raise awareness and support this charity in memory of my beloved dad and hoping this would give me the boost I need to get my love of fitness back..
Lockdown from covid has been tough for myself and many others I know but since researching thrombosis recently and with covid on the rise new evidence shows covid-19 sufferers can be more at risk of a DVT due to clotting factors. So it’s even more important people are aware.
This got me thinking if I can share my story, get more awareness out there and encourage people even if they are shielding to get moving. It's so important!! If me doing this helps one person it's one life saved and one less family suffering the loss of a loved one.
So I have challenged myself to complete at least 60 miles, distance throughout the month of July. Raising money for research and help spread awareness of Thrombosis and the signs and symptoms.
I have chosen to run and this will be outside or at home on my treadmill. I am a mum of 5 and a Midwife so I will fit these miles in daily through the month.
Please donate if you can any amount would be gratefully appreciated. I will update this page each run I have achieved and at the end of July I will post my completed miles.
Thank you for reading my story ♥️🐝
