Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
We will be walking on average 23 miles and climbing 8,000ft (3 mountains) a day. All in aid of raising money for the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Cancer Appeal. Funding money for fantastic new developments in technology and drugs to help fight cancer.
We all have close family members/friends that have passed away or are currently suffering due to cancer, and we all want to find ways to beat it.
You can keep track of our progress at www.charity-walk.co.uk
Cancer patients at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital could be given access to new drugs quicker than anywhere else in the country, if the charity’s appeal for £1 million to fund a cancer treatment acceleration programme is successful.
Professor Hisham Mehanna who is one of the UK’s leading cancer clinicians and researchers, said "cancer is discriminate. It affects people of all ages and all races. This programme is about speeding up treatment by matching existing drugs, which have already been approved in other conditions like arthritis, to cancers where they have not been tried before".
