Story

With 75% of all Uk suicides being male, we at The Herts Ad Sunday Football League (a men’s football league in Hertfordshire, with 58 member clubs and over 1400 members) is running an extra cup competition this season, with the aim to raise money for CALM along the way.

Every week nearly 100 men commit suicide and unfortunately, the 16-40 age bracket seems to be the most common and as 99% of our 1400+ members fall within this bracket, we as a league saw an opportunity to raise awareness and money for such a fantastic charity.

CALM exists to offer life saving services, provoking conversation and bringing people together to reject living miserably. From advice on their site, through to free, confidential chats with their helpline staff, online or on the phone, the fantastic team at CALM are here for whoever needs them, every day. No matter what.

Over the coming season, we aim to raise as much money and awareness as possible for this fantastic charity, using the cup competition and our leagues social media platform to spread the word that anyone feeling down or having suicidal thoughts, you are not alone and there are people to talk to!!

With the league into their 61st season, we have duly named this fantastic competition The Brian Hubball Charity Cup after the phenomenal work our press officer Brian puts in every week from the day the league began, to this very day.

Please donate & share to help us raise money & awareness for this fantastic charity!!!!
