Story
When he was less than 2 months old, our son Ethan fell ill. We took him to A&E with a temperature...a lumbar puncture confirmed a few hours later it was meningitis. He spent the next 6 days in hospital, being drip fed a cocktail of different antibiotics as the doctors waited to find out which particular variant he had, and tried to keep his temperature down enough to stop him from fitting.
He's always been a trooper, and we were incredibly lucky that he made a full recovery and was able to come home to his family.
I am finally hoping to honour the promise I made at the time to raise money for one of the many amazing charities that helped us during our stay at hospital!
Meningitis Now work towards a future where no-one in the UK loses their life to meningitis and everyone affected gets the support they need to rebuild their lives.
Your money will go towards:
- Research: Supporting research that finds new, and enhances existing, vaccines to save lives and prevent disability.
- Support: Providing specialist support to help rebuild lives and ensure no-one has to face meningitis alone. This is a lifeline to victims of meningitis and includes practical, financial and emotional support.
- Awareness: Saving lives through awareness and education, giving people the knowledge and confidence to say “I suspect meningitis” - fast action saves lives.
- Campaign: Campaigning for the introduction of licensed vaccines as soon as they are available in the UK, because time lost is lives lost.
Please donate whatever you can, I'm incredibly grateful for your support.
If anyone fancies coming along and cheering on the day, I'll need all the help I can get!!!!
