We fund life changing research to change the future of spinal cord injury

Story

Team DJ did it!!!!

All members of the Dan James trust succeeded in completing the gruelling 26.2 mile London Marathon.

To those of you who have already sponsered me a big big thankyou, your generous donations really did spur me on, especially at 21 miles when i really did start to 'feel it'.  However, after 4 hrs 21 mins I crossed the finishing line and achieved my goal, so for those of you that havent yet donated please dig deep into your pockets, there is still time..my just giving page is still active!!!

WELL DONE TEAM DJ!!!!!!

As you will all probably be aware, someone very close to me Dan James, tragically suffered a spinal cord injury whilst in a rugby training session in March 2007.  He dislocated his C6/C7 vertebrae trapping his spinal cord, rendering him paralysed from the chest down.  Although, through sheer determination Dan managed to regain restricted movement in his fingers, unfortunately this was the extent of his recovery.  Sadly, as you probably are all aware from all the media coverage from September and October last year Dan is no longer with us. So my reason for asking for your support in running the London Marathon is for Spinal Research in that hopefully with your contribution we can in the future give hope to all those who suffer such a life changing injury.

Spinal research is the UK’s leading charitable organisation, developing effective treatments to beat paralysis.  With no direct government funding, spinal research relies totally on the donations of supporters to fund pioneering projects at scientific and medical institutions around the world.  These projects have made revolutionary progress over the last decade and several complementary research routes show particular promise in restoring feeling and mobility to people paralysed as a result of breaking their neck or back.  Their ultimate aim is to find the best method of reversing paralysis so it is no longer a permanent effect of spinal cord injury.  I personally know of three young men in their early 20’s who have suffered spinal cord injury, so this particular charity is very close to my heart.

The money that I raise by running the London Marathon will help to continue funding research into repairing damaged spinal cords and restoring feeling and movement to paralysed people everywhere….YOUR DONATION WILL MAKE A DIFFERENCE TO HELP BEAT PARALYSIS!!!  At this precise moment running 26.2 miles seems an almost impossible task, but my new years resolution involves running a ‘gentle’ 8-10 mile jog every other day (according to the marathon training guide!!) whilst jet lagged in between trips (my new job) to Hong Kong, Bangkok and Singapore...you know me I am determined, I will do it for Dan!!

So please please donate generously, no matter how small, every penny counts to this very worthy cause.  Help to give hope to others, which Dan realistically never had.

Thank you in anticipation for your support.
