Hi there, thanks for taking a look at my page.
My name is Chantal and I have decided to take on a couple of challanges this year and next to raise as much as possible for the RNLI.
For those who you who know me and my family, you will know how much I admire the guys and girls who put their lives on the line on a voluntary basis 365 days a year, 24 hours a day, to save the lives of others at sea and around the coast.
For those of you that I dont know in person (but have taken the time to visit), THANK YOU so much!! Your support is going to make all the difference in the coming months.
My family have been supporters of the RNLI for as long as I can remember. My Dad would always make sure we visited the Lifeboat station whenever we were at the coast (I think we must have the best collection of tea towels going). Sadly he passed away in June of 2007, before I had time to tell him about my place in my first 10 mile Great South Run for the RNLI.
Since then I have taken part in the Edinburgh Marathon in May 2008 and then the Great South Run in Oct 2008 (along with my Son Tommy who ran the Mini South Run for the Lifeboats as well).
This year however, I fancied a new challange. Something bigger and better than before, something that would have great connections with the RNLI itself, and what better way than to head out into the open water, ferries, tankers and all, to attempt one of the hardest open water swims in the world..... The English Channel, sometime between 14 and 22 of September 2010
Oh yes, just thought I would throw in the Edinburgh Marathon as a warm up first in May 2009
So thanks again for your time and donation, it really will make a difference knowing your support is with me for both events.

19/11/2009 - Well the training is well under way now and I have to say, since I started swimming in Dover in May I have met so many great people who have offered SO MUCH support its made the cold weekend mornings and long swims easier. Im now determined to keep up the cold water swimming over the winter to give myself the best possible chance of achieving my dream and raising as much money as possible for the RNLI.
I managed to complete a six hour swim towards the end of the swimming season in the harbour this year and have to say it really got me thinking about what I wanted to achieve. After a long hard think and a couple of episodes of seaside rescue and sea patrol uk, I decided that a 2 way swim would now become my new dream...
So please keep having a peek back to see how the training is going and THANK YOU again for taking the time to have a look at my page your support really does mean everthing to me.
