Story

Our nephew, Noah, was born at just 24 weeks and 2 days gestation. Full term is considered 37 weeks and so Noah was extremely early!!

We have decided to set ourselves a challenge to raise money for the incredible Neonatal Unit at Liverpool Women’s Hospital who have been fantastic since the day Noah was born. Without them, Noah wouldn’t be here, it really is as simple as that.

Here’s just a little bit about Noah…

Noah Gleeson was born on 14th July 2018, at just 24 weeks + 2. He weighed a tiny 1lb 4oz – the average birth weight for a boy in the UK is 7lb 8oz.

Whilst on the Neonatal Unit at Liverpool Women’s Hospital Noah had over 30 blood transfusions, an operation on his heart, laser eye surgery and injections in his eyes, just to name a few. Noah’s mum and dad, Emma and Paul, went through so many ups and downs during this time.

Finally, at 15 weeks and 5 days old, on 1st November 2018, Emma and Paul got to bring Noah home. 1st November 2018 was actually Emma’s original due date and so him coming home on that date at almost 16 weeks old shows just how early Noah was born!

Since coming home Noah is absolutely thriving. He’s doing so well and that’s all down to the care he received at Liverpool Women’s – and his mum and dad of course!

We decided we wanted to do something to thank the staff at Liverpool Women’s and to help other premature babies like Noah in the future. We thought doing just one race wasn’t a big enough challenge and so we have decided to take part in FIVE races, the shortest being 5K and the longest being a full marathon.

We have decided to take part in:

5K – 2nd December 2018 – Liverpool Santa Dash
10K – 10
th
March 2019 – Chester 10K
Half marathon – 14
th
April 2019 – Coast Half Marathon
Marathon – 26
th
May 2019 – Liverpool Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon

Colour Run (5K) – 20th July 2019 – Aintree Color Obstacle Rush

Noah's Grandparents, Jo and Shaun Doorbar, are also taking part in the Color Run at Aintree Racecourse on 20th July 2019.

Our aim is to raise as much money as we can for the Neonatal Unit at Liverpool Women’s Hospital, where Noah was born and spent the first 16 weeks of his life. All donations are massively appreciated by us and the hospital, however big or small.

Please donate whatever you can to this amazing cause.

Thank you in advance!
