Challenge Coniston - Progress Housing Group staff join together for their annual charity trek
Over the past 5 months, our intrepid team of colleagues who work for Progress Housing Group and Progress Lifeline have been gearing up to take on a new charity challenge ... a 22 or 15 mile hike around Cumbria's beautiful Coniston Lake.
Following the success of last year's Ullswater challenge for which we raised more than £2000 for the Time to Change and Papyrus Prevention of Young Suicide charities, 19 members of staff from Progress Housing Group, along with five supportive friends and family members, will again visit the Lake District to raise money for this year's chosen charity - the Alzheimer's Society.
Our team have been training hard to conquer one of two challenge walk options and will split into two groups on the day: A 15 mile route which closely follows the lakeshore, or a more challenging 22 mile route which circuits Coniston Water and includes 4,000 feet of ascent; classed as a challenge walk by the long distance walkers association.
The walk will take place on 22nd June 2019 and we are aiming to raise money for the Alzheimer's Society.
Please help us raise valuable funds for this worthy charity by supporting our walk, and giving what you can. Progress Housing Group has also pledged to match the amount raised as part of its twenty-five year celebrations so we can make your donation go much further.
Why we've chosen the Alzheimer's Society as our charity to support for 2019:
Alzheimer’s Society is transforming the landscape of dementia forever. Until the day we find a cure, we will create a society where those affected by dementia are supported and accepted, able to live in their community without fear or prejudice.
Many of our tenants and Progress Lifeline service users live with, or care for a loved-one with, dementia. In addition, the majority of the staff taking part in this year's walk love and care for, or have loved, someone living with this disease.
Thank-you to Progress Housing Group and Progress Lifeline who have provided sponsorship for the event and pledged to match fund any amount raised as part of its twenty-five year celebrations.
