Story

The story really begins back in September 2015...I'd just turned 30 and was well on my way to a similar number in stones weighedSo, in October 2015, I decided to enter the unknown world of road running, I downloaded the couch to 5k app and set to work. I'd never enjoyed running outside of playing sport (many would argue I don't run when playing either), but road running was surprisingly enjoyable and addictive as goals were being reached.

July 2016 rolls around, and I think I'm ready for a 10k run...I wasn't! Andrea beating me across the line in that race will haunt me forever more! Undeterred I keep pounding those pavements as I slowly start to get the hang of this running lark.

Around the same time, myself and Andrea have been trying to extend our family. This is something that has not come easy, and its sadly been the toughest rollercoaster of our lives.

Its due to our own experience's, as well as some of those around us, that we have become aware of the work that Tommy’s carries out.  They are the leading charity in progressing the research into understanding why 1 in 4 women lose a baby during pregnancy, as well as supporting those going through difficulties. We hope that with their research, one day every pregnancy will be a healthy one.

During the toughest times, I decided I was going to use my new-found enthusiasm for running as a welcome distraction and an opportunity to push myself physically and mentally, as well as raise money for a cause close to our hearts.

Taking on one challenge didn't feel like a big enough test. So, I've decided to push the boat out, taking on four different challenges with the difficulty stepping up each time.

Starting with what will be my first half marathon in October 2018, moving onto the London Marathon in April 2019, stepping up to an Ultramarathon in August 2019, with the challenge culminating in a 100k Ultra in September 2019.

I'll need all the help I can get to cross the finish line at each event. Knowing that my efforts would be raising funds for a cause that is so important to us would be a huge help. Any and every donation would be wholeheartedly appreciated, and serve as a massive boost to the cause!

Progress reports before and after each challenge will be forthcoming, although I'll try not to bore you too much!
