Update: DONE IT! 3:46:30.
I set off much too fast (1:42 for the first half marathon and 2:04 for the second says it all) and ended up in a world of pain. The camera does lie in this case and although I look quite jolly at 25.5 miles, I certainly wasn't feeling it.
Still... DONE IT!
A big thank you to all my sponsors. If you haven't sponsored me yet, you still can - see below for details...
Thank you for visiting my fundraising page. Please dig deep and sponsor me online - it's for a really good cause.
If I'm going to run for a reason other than my mid-life crisis (have you noticed how many blokes my age are doing triathlons and marathons?) then this is it.
You may or may not be aware that my brother has Muscular Dystrophy, and so I have a special reason to be running for the Muscular Dystrophy Campaign.
If I can complete the London marathon with half the courage, determination / bloody-mindedness, and above all, good humour that my brother uses to get through each day, then I'll be proud of my achievement, both in finishing the race (I've not done a full marathon before) and in raising money for the Muscular Dystrophy Campaign.
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Muscular Dystrophy Campaign will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
So please sponsor me now and help fund their important research and support work.
Many thanks for your support. Please tell everyone you know about this fundraising page - the more people that know about it, the more good my run will do.
Cheers,
Chalky
