Story
In September 2022 Heather and Gillian smashed the Rob Roy mighty hike and their fundraising total- raising an incredible £1750 for Macmillan. But with a couple of years gone by to forget the hip pain... and brutal rain... they heard the route had changed, and with a few new recruits under their belt decided it was time to face the challenge again.
In November 2021, Gillians cousin Jennifer was diagnosed with mouth cancer aged just 38, having just given birth to her second beautiful baby. Despite having already gone through numerous major surgeries, intense radiotherapy, and having to rebuild her life- including learning how to talk, eat and drink again; her resilience, positivity, and incredible outlook on life has been unwavering.
And if all that wasn't enough, Jennifer has made the absolutely ridiculous decision to join the team on this adventure- but what's 26 miles when you're kicking cancers butt, eh?
In 2012 Laura's lovely step mum Trisha was diagnosed with breast cancer, however despite being given the all clear back then; in 2021 this unfortunately returned and the family recieved the devastating news that the cancer had also spread to other parts of Trishas body. Trisha continues to fight her cancer with everything she has, and the family are hopeful that with research and medication that this will keep Trisha with them for as long as possible. But for every step in this hike the whole team will be pushing forward for her.
Despite the team being more suited to drinking gin and ordering takeaways- we have foolishly decided to show our support by undertaking a gruelling 26 mile hike, and hope to raise some cash for Macmillan on the way. Macmillan have been, and continue to be an absolute god send to all of our families affected by cancer.
Any amount- big or small- is greatly appreciated and will go a long way to helping Macmillan continue to do the incredible work that they do for people living with cancer.
Welcome to the team Gemma, Laura, Jennifer, Gordon and Matthew!!
So lets do this lads! We go again! Let the training commence...
